GÖTZIS, Austria — Three American athletes, including the world’s greatest athlete Ashton Eaton, will open their international multi-event seasons outdoors at the 41st Hypo-Meeting, a IAAF Combined Events Challenge event, in Götzis, Austria this weekend.
Olympic champion and world record holder Eaton (Bend, Oregon) will compete in his first decathlon since his victory at the 14th IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia. Eaton focused on the 400-meter hurdles outdoors last season. He is only the second man ever to break 9,000 points with his world record of 9,039 points at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.
